Sustainability

As a family-owned company, we think and act in generations to build a sustainable future. This involves our employees, customers, business partners and other interested stakeholders working together to deliver sustainable and environmentally-friendly growth and to create added value along the supply chain in the long term. HOYER considers sustainability to be crucial to its business. We establish ESG (Environmental Social Governance) strategy targets and governance to implement our sustainability vision.

ENVIRONMENT

HOYER promotes sustainable solutions when dealing with carbon emissions and natural resources. We focus on energy and water management, emissions and waste reduction, and strive for closed-loop recycling management. 

Despite challenges such as substantial fuel and water consumption, HOYER is enhancing its positive impacts through operating modern truck fleets, utilizing alternative fuels and powertrains as well as renewable energy, and ensuring high recycling rates for deployed assets. In addition, we aim to make our solutions accessible on a global scale by applying the book-and-claim model.

This includes full compliance with applicable laws and regulations in every country where we operate, covering everything from business conduct to social and environmental matters.

We also focus on secure handling of information and IT, as well as sustainable procurement, relying on a trusted supplier network supported by regular compliance audits. To encourage ethical behavior, manage risks, and continuously improve our organization, we foster an open feedback culture. In addition, employees and third parties have access to an anonymous whistleblower system to report concerns safely.

ASSURANCE STANDARDS AND CERTIFICATIONS

HOYER regularly assesses its operating processes, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the defined sustainability standards, both globally and regionally. We are accredited in accordance with ISO certifications for quality management, food safety, information security and energy management.

In addition, we participate in EcoVadis and CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) sustainability assessments as well as in sector-specific appraisals by the SQAS (Safety and Quality Assessment for Sustainability) and CDI IMPCAS (International Marine Packed Cargo Audit Scheme) external certification bodies to ensure quality practices and sustainable operations. 

Finally, we are committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as well as to the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact.
