ABOUT US
From a regionally active company to a global market leader: today, HOYER is one of the most successful global providers of comprehensive logistics solutions for the chemical, mineral oil, gas and foodstuffs industries. The family-owned company was founded in 1946 as “Bruno Hoyer Internationale Fachspedition” in Hamburg, Germany, where our headquarters is still located. The strategic pathways are laid down there until this day. Since 1996, HOYER has been expanding its global activities in our regional headquarter in Shanghai, China.
Our core competences are in handling and transporting liquid goods by road, rail, inland waterway and sea. We bring our customers’ products safely to their destination in tank containers, flexitanks, and intermediate bulk containers (IBCs). At the same time, our aim is to be “one step ahead” in everything we do – true to the motto of Walter Hoyer, our company’s founder.

Over time, HOYER has grown from a single company to an independent corporate group with a turnover running into billions. But the HOYER Group’s core values have not changed during this expansion: as a family-owned company, we know that our global workforce of more than 3,900 employees are the key to our corporate success. They are the logistics experts. Their extensive skills, dedication and knowledge form the basis on which we constantly undertake the further development of our company and its service range, and offer the best possible service at all times. HISTORIC MILESTONES
- 1946: Founding of HOYER by Walther Hoyer in Hamburg, Germany
- 1959/1960: First chemical transport carried out
- 1972: Acquisition of first tank containers and installation of own cleaning facility in Britain
- 1980: First opening of HOYER office abroad, in United States of America
- 1985: 15 offices across Europe ensure smooth transport logistics
- 1988: Implementation of emergency system
- 1990: First telematic installed in vehicles, first transport in refrigerated reefer tanks taking place
- 1994: HOYER takes up IBC logistics
- 1996: regional headquarter opened in Shanghai, China
- 2000: First Supply Chain Logistics on-site
- 2008: HOYER owns 20,000 tank container worldwide
- 2014: an in-house developed training tank supports insights on logistics during training, events and fairs
- 2018: Supply Chain Logistics on-site at Shanghai Chemical Industrial Park
- 2025: HOYER is awarded with EcoVadis gold rating
